If you want to know what Wi-Fi networks are available in your area, you only need to click a system tray icon to get a list. However, if you want more information, you should use Wi-Fi Scanner (also called WiScan). It provides you with a large amount of information about each network, including strength, channels and access points. The application places a variety of options at your disposal and it lets you work in a comfortable manner.

Wi-Fi Scanner can be used on Windows Vista or any later version, up to Win 10, and it provides full support for both 32 and 64-bit editions. Its setup package is small, so you won't spend too much time downloading it. Also, the installation process is quick and simple.

The software lets you decide what wireless adapter to use. You can select one in a drop-down menu, on its compact user interface, and click a button to start scanning. Discovered networks are displayed in the largest area of the main window, along with various details, like name, BSSID, Channel, frequency and strength. Also, the application displays colored bars for all networks, to indicate their signal quality.

The channels and frequencies of the networks you've discovered can be analyzed on the same interface, on different tabs. Each network is represented in a graph, according to its frequency and strength. Furthermore, the application lets you view the Unicast, DNS, WNS, Gateway, DHCP and Multicast of individual networks.

Besides providing you with information about wireless networks, the application provides you with a few useful options as well. For example, you can set it to rescan periodically. Additionally, you can make a series of changes to how it looks for networks. You can increase or decrease the minimum relevant beacon signal, the rescan cycle, set channel restrictions and more.

Everything you need to know about the wireless networks around you can be found at a moment's notice on Wi-Fi Scanner's user friendly interface.

Pros

You can scan for wireless networks around you. The application provides you with various details about each network. Also, it lets you make a series of fine tweaks.

Cons

There are no serious issues to address.
